Brian M. There's something so satisfying about this downtrodden flavor of Icelandic black metal that ambles hypnotically between a brooding insanity and suffocating melancholy. The trodding pace allows the atmosphere to bloom and breathe. There's a stifled hope hidden in the melodies that never quite breaks the surface; a visceral inhumanity in the vocals fueled by a madness that comes for us all, sooner or later. There is no hope—never has been. But with an album this good, who needs hope? Favorite track: Hugklofnun.

The dissonant bleakness of the first track is less weird and more hypnotic than on the second track. That's why I like it a little more. But both songs together make for an extraordinary experience and a journey to the arhythmically beating heart of darkness. mourner
